Registry is a form of relief that is time specific. Non-citizens that entered the United States before January 1, 1972 are eligible for registry. Registry creates a record of entry for a person that entered without inspection.
There are several requirements for this form of relief.
First, a non-citizen must prove that he or she entered the United States prior to January 1, 1972.
Second, the person must be of good moral character.
Third, the person must have been continuously present in the United States since the date of entry.
The main purpose of registry is to avoid the consequences of removal for those that have been in the United States for an exceptionally long period of time.
